That’s why NNU is leading a campaign rooted in the precautionary principle to protect health care workers and our patients from infectious diseases. Health care employers are responsible for providing a safe work and patient care environment, and multilayered infection prevention measures should be implemented in all health care facilities. This includes ensuring that nurses have the education, training, and personal protective equipment they need for infectious disease exposure control, including for known pathogens as well as preparation for emerging infectious diseases events.
