Tell Congress: Vote NO on the SAVE America Act

The SAVE America Act would require every voter to show proof of citizenship documentation when registering to vote in federal elections by presenting their passport or original birth certificate bearing their current legal name. This is a huge change to how we are used to registering to vote, and many eligible voters don’t have these documents readily available. In fact, over 21 million eligible citizens lack the restrictive, ready proof of citizenship required under this law, and 146 million Americans have no valid passport.

This week, Senate Leader John Thune will bring the SAVE America Act (H.R. 7296/S. 3752) to the floor for a vote. Republican Senators lack the votes to pass their bill, and Senator Thune is getting pressured by President Trump and MAGA Republicans to use the “talking filibuster” to pass the bill without Democratic support. If passed, the SAVE America Act would disenfranchise millions of eligible voters, and right now we have the chance to stop this bill for good!

Additionally, this bill would require showing proof of citizenship or simple changes like updating your address in person, making online and mail-in voter registration nearly impossible. Republicans and President Trump claim this bill will improve election security by “preventing noncitizen voting.” Noncitizen voting is already a federal crime and is vanishingly rare. These bills purport to solve a problem that does not exist and instead create sweeping new barriers that would make it significantly harder for everyday Americans to vote, including nurses, women, veterans, and low-income workers.

We need you to call your U.S. Senator NOW and tell them to vote NO on this voter suppression bill. Tell them to stand up against any bill that attacks our voting rights!

Here's a short script you can follow:

Hi, my name is [First Name]. I am your constituent, and I’m a ______ (nurse/other health care worker/patient/veteran). I’m calling to ask [Senator] to stand up for voting rights and vote NO on the SAVE America Act. This bill will not improve election security; it is a blatant voter suppression tactic designed to make it harder for millions of eligible Americans to register and vote.

Tell [Senator] that I expect them to protect voting rights—not make voting more difficult. I urge them to vote NO on the SAVE America Act. Thank you.
