Tell Congress: Protect union rights of VA nurses and federal employees!
An executive order signed on March 27th seeks to strip federal employees of their protected union rights -- this is a direct attack on workers' rights that will impact the hard-won collective bargaining agreement that covers over 15,000 union registered nurses in the Veterans Health Administration.
Additionally, the executive order targets public health workers at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and hundreds of thousands more at other federal agencies. This order will make it harder or even impossible for these federal workers to do their jobs safely and will negatively affect public health.
VA nurses provide high-quality, therapeutic care to our veteran patients every single day. We cannot stand by and allow this administration to intimidate and silence us.
Call your U.S. representative and senators and demand that they step up to protect health care workers’ rights to advocate for patients with the guaranteed protections of a union. When calling the U.S. House, please urge them to co-sponsor the bipartisan Protect America’s Workforce Act, H.R. 2550.
Stand with VA nurses by calling your elected officials at the numbers below.

U.S. House of Representatives: Hi, my name is [First Name]. I am your constituent, and I’m a ______ (nurse/other health care worker/patient/veteran). I’m calling today to urge you to publicly oppose the current administration’s latest executive order to strip federal workers of their rights to organize and collectively bargain, including 15,000 nurses in the VA. Union rights are fundamental to nurses’ role as patient advocates. This executive order is an outrageous attack on all workers' rights and a blatant union-busting effort by the current administration to silence us all. I urge you to stand up for safe patient care for veterans and health care workers’ rights by co-sponsoring the Protect America’s Workforce Act, HR 2550, which has strong bipartisan support. Thank you.
