Urge Alameda Health Services Board of Trustees: No cuts to patient care services in our community!

In mid April 2024 Alameda Health Services announced the pending closure of surgical services at Alameda Hospital citing “lack of profitability” as a reason for closure for these units. Alameda Hospital is the only hospital on Alameda Island and is a safety net hospital serving the most vulnerable of our community.

Shuttering these vital patient care services will leave our neighbors who are in most need of health care without access to vital patient care services and the people who live here with no surgical services. Closing "unprofitable" units is just one example of Alameda Health executives' push to make permanent crisis standards of care in our community. Our patients and community deserve better.
