Email Congress: Protect union rights of VA nurses, sign the discharge petition and vote in favor of the Protect America’s Workforce Act!
An executive order signed on March 27th seeks to strip federal employees of their protected union rights -- this is a direct attack on workers' rights that will impact the hard-won collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that covers over 15,000 union registered nurses in the Veterans Health Administration. While we – along with our union siblings – have been fighting this illegal attack in Court, the Department of Veterans Affairs has preemptively canceled the CBAs of VA nurses.
Additionally, after the VA’s announcement that they would no longer honor CBAs, other federal departments soon followed, cancelling contracts of public health workers at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and hundreds of thousands more at other federal agencies. This move will be disastrous and will make it harder or even impossible for these federal workers to do their jobs safely and will negatively affect public health.
VA nurses provide high-quality, therapeutic care to our veteran patients every single day. We cannot stand by and allow this administration to intimidate and silence us.
Dear [Representative],
