Urge the Senate to Oppose Casey Means’ Nomination to Surgeon General

We’re fighting to protect our right to health by opposing Casey Means’ nomination. Means does not have the qualifications to serve in this position. She is not a practicing physician, has conflicts of interest, touts unscientific viewpoints, and has spread false claims about vaccines.

The U.S. Surgeon General leads the public health workforce, but Means has actually promoted getting rid of proven public health protections, like food safety oversight and childhood vaccine schedules, which have saved millions of lives. She is the wrong choice for the job.

When we remove public health protections, billionaires and their corporate allies rush in to fill the void, privatizing critical services and cutting health care resources – all at the cost of our lives.

The truth is, this nomination is yet another scheme by the billionaire class to trick Americans into giving up our vital health protections so billionaires can boost corporate profits.

That’s why it’s essential that we demand public health programs like Medicare for All, Social Security, infectious disease protections, pandemic preparedness, and programs that increase access to healthy foods. These programs create the right to health for everyone, and are essential to us and our patients’ health and safety.

We need a Surgeon General who will provide information that helps patients and our communities. Casey Means does the opposite: she promotes unscientific, anti-vaccine viewpoints that endanger public health. I am urging you to oppose her nomination.
