The right to retire with dignity and economic security has long been out of reach for most working people in the United States. For over a century, the ultra-wealthy and large corporations have rigged our systems to consolidate and hoard profits made by the labor of working people, chipping away our economic security. Programs like Social Security, union pension plans, Medicare, and Medicaid are the collective victories of working-class people demanding justice. Now, Republicans in Congress and the Trump administration have gifted $1.9 trillion in tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy and large corporations, with a plan to fund these tax breaks by gutting Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and making it nearly impossible for workers to unionize. Join union nurses, community allies, union siblings, and elected leaders on August 28th to discuss how we move forward with our vision to protect our existing programs and fight to guarantee a dignified retirement for all people.
